At last I have completely succumbed to modern technology and downloaded Whatsapp – all my friends have been telling me to add the app for weeks as it seems regular text messages just don’t cut it anymore! I’ve been told that there really is only one effective way to yachna now and that is via Whatsapp. In fact, I have become so adept, my darlings, that once I worked out how you can chat to two or three different friends simultaneously, I discovered that I could set up group chats to include all my friends so we can all gossip together and stay connected wherever we are, be it on a cruise or just cruising around Brent Cross. Having mastered the art of fast typing, text typing and the like I eventually discovered the vast array of emojis at my finger tips and they have changed my life!! I’m not even joking boobalas, what better way to emphasise and express how you feel or what you are doing in your messages than by adding a corresponding yellow face or picture of a rain cloud, car, sunshine… there’s even a star of David and shul in there!
When chatting the other day to a friend and to mark the end of a long day I jokingly used the wine glass picture and typed L’chaim and suddenly as if by technological magic a lightbulb shaped emoji appeared above my head as inspiration struck and I thought – wouldn’t it be super helpful if we had an entire glossary of Jewish themed emoji’s, a dictionary of sorts with alternate Yiddish emoji’s. When you consider the sheer amount of phrases that we use day in and day out – we could now save even more time typing by just using an emoji!
Here’s what I have come up with so far – I’ve actually even made myself LOL.
Let me know what you think my darlings and please add your own interpretations and new ones, together we can start a Jewish Emoji revolution!
